PIR sensors use Infrared light to determine if a person is walking in front of the sensor. This will then trigger something to happen (typically a security light turning on).

A contact sensor has 2 components that are placed next to each other and, if the connection is broken, it sends a message to your security system hub.

A Vibration sensor measures changes in velocity (any movement) to trigger your security system.
